One man’s trash is another’s treasure. Former Bills first rounder Aaron Maybin is expected to sign with the Jets later today. ESPN’s Rich Cimini first reported the story.
Maybin, a DE/LB out of Penn State, was the eleventh overall pick in the the 2009 draft. He is considered the biggest bust in Bills history after he failed to record a single sack during his tenure in Buffalo. Two picks after Maybin went to the Bills, the Redskins drafted Brian Orakpo, a pass rusher who has 19.5 sacks in two season. And Clay Matthews went 26th overall; he’s recorded 23.5 sacks in his career.
The Jets haven’t commented on the move yet, but Late Show with David Letterman head writer Eric Stangel was quick to tweet “Jets interested in Aaron Maybin. He’d fill the ‘First round bust who can’t get a sack’ role vacated by Vernon Gholston.”
